Splatoon 3 and Mario Golf Super Rush were announced yesterday at Nintendo’s first direct of 2021. There was also a slew of announcements for new games, release dates, remasters, DLC expansion, some collections, and even some new special edition Joy-Cons.

There were no new updates about the anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild 2 but Eiji Aonuma did reveal that an HD release of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be coming to the Switch this summer. Updates have been made to the game that will allow players to switch between using the traditional motion controls or an analog sticks and buttons only option.

Of course, we knew going into this February direct that a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character would be announced and fans of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 were not disappointed. Mythra and Pyrah are joining the roster as one character that players can swap between freely during a match.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is getting a bunch of Mario-themed items that can be purchased as furniture via Nook Shopping and there are even function warp pipes.

Some other surprises included the next Spike Chunsoft game Worlds End Club, a new game by Ben Esposito about being an assassin in heaven called Neon White, and the next game from the original creators of Octopath Traveler tentatively being called Project: Triangle Strategy.

There were also some big trailers for Monster Hunter Rise and Bravely Default 2 so don’t miss those and a bunch of other cool highlights from the presentation. If you don’t have the time, well don’t worry, we have got you covered with all the highlights right here.
